What’s new in Blackboard for winter 2017

During the Thanksgiving break MCC installed an update to Blackboard that introduced some new features, highlighted below:

“Floating” Submit Button

On pages where you might make changes the submit and cancel buttons used to appear at the top right and bottom right. To prevent un-necessary scrolling, the submit and cancel buttons now remains in position floating at the bottom of the browser screen.

Drag and drop files from your computer into Blackboard

On pages where you might attach files there is now a dotted line around the “attach files” box.  You may drag and drop files from your computer into the dotted box rather than browsing for them one by one.

Submission receipts via email

When students submit an assignment they will now receive an on-screen receipt number.  They will also receive an email confirmation with the receipt number.

Students can also access receipts at any time on the My Grades page in the submissions filter area.

Send reminders to students who have not yet submitted assignments or tests

Instructors may select “Send Reminders” from the chevron menu of the grade center column of an assignment or test.  Any student who has not yet submitted that assignment or test will receive an email reminder.
